Rating System

DISCLAIMER: I am not paid or compensated for my reviews, and all ratings and comments are subjective; of my own opinion. I am fully aware that all authors are individual and unique, with their own strengths and weaknesses that I would appreciate at different levels than others. Most of them put a lot of effort into their work and for that, even 1-star books deserve appreciation- if not from me, from others. Give books a chance!

For simplicity, I use the 5-star rating system which is the most common rating system used.
Details below~

5 out of 5 stars: I loved this book! It is nearly perfect. I would be fully involved in the story that little else outside of the book would matter to me at the time of reading. If it was a series, I would definitely pick up the other books without much thought. The author would immediately be on my radar. Definite Favourites-shelf occupant and future re-read. Would gushingly recommend the book to others.

4 out of 5 stars: I really liked this book. However, it was not near enough to perfection- maybe some aspects of the book felt a little lackluster for me, or there are minor editing mistakes, etc. Still has high re-read value. Would check out other books in the series and/or by the author. Will most definitely recommend to others.

3 out of 5 stars: I liked this book enough to finish it with amiable feelings. It's not the perfect book for me, but I can see why others would love it. Would still pick up other books in the series and the author. Would be recommended for fans of the genre and/or author's writing style.

2 out of 5 stars: I mostly disliked this book. Probably took a lot of effort to finish it. There were probably some redeeming points, but too little to make me care for the book or series. Would recommend only with caution; proceed at your own risk.

1 out of 5 stars: Probably did not finish the book at all, and it definitely ruined my day, at least. I rarely give books this rating, because books likely to get this rating are in my 'books to avoid in my entire lifetime' section. The mention of this book title would warrant you a murderous look and a hissing, scathing conversation that could be mistaken for Parseltongue. It would take great effort for me to find redeeming points for this book.

I would occasionally reward half-stars, especially for ratings between 2 and 3 stars.
